From A-level graduate to International Junior Key Account Manager: Lena Buhne’s story
Lena Buhne had her A-levels in the bag when she did her internship with us in 2011 – and she never left us. She then completed a dual degree course in Business Administration with a major in commerce at DHBW Heidenheim, graduating in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Since 1 October 2016, Lena, now 25, has been studying at the DHBW Center for Advanced Studies in Heilbronn Business Management on the dual studies Master’s programme. As a “second job”, Lena Buhne is an International Junior Key Account Manager at tremco illbruck in Cologne.
What were the important career stages for you?
During my Bachelor's degree, I worked my way around all the departments: Production, Incoming Goods, Product Development, Operational Control, Purchasing and Customer Service in Bodenwöhr. Controlling, Financial Shared Service Center, IT, Group Marketing and Sales in Cologne. And I took part in a controlling project in Traunreut. After my Bachelor's degree I worked in the sales division as a Regional Manager for building materials trade. Now I work in the private label division as an “International Junior Key Account Manager”.
How did you come to work for tremco illbruck?
I was looking for a dual degree course in business administration and when researching this I came across tremco illbruck.
What are you involved with at the moment?
As an International Junior Key Account Manager for Private Labels, I’m responsible for looking after various key clients in all respects. I supervise and edit product portfolios, conducting trainings, position new products and handle complaints. I carry out the sales and profit planning for my clients and look after strategic expansion and further development. I am also responsible for acquiring new clients. At the same time as working, I have also been completing my Master’s degree with blocks of lectures and seminars during the week and at weekends and evenings.
What do you particularly value about your work?
I like work which is varied and in which I’m required to approach – and resolve – new challenges in a positive way. I have a very good working relationship with my line manager and my colleagues. I enjoy working with my clients. It motivates me immensely. I also think it's great that at tremco illbruck I have the opportunity to integrate my Master’s degree with my work.
What do you like about tremco illbruck as an employer?
The confidence that tremco illbruck places in its employees and the responsibility we are given here is truly exceptional – and very motivating. That's also the case for our team of colleagues. tremco illbruck is like a family. The opportunities for additional training are very attractive.
What are your goals for the future?
I want to work in a target-oriented and organised way. I also want to successfully complete my Master’s degree. During my studies, I will hopefully gather a lot of new experiences in my current scope of duties and be able to successfully apply what I have learnt to my job. I would also like to build on my current scope of duties even further. Once I have completed my Master's degree, I would of course also be interested in other positions in which I can develop professionally.
We would like to wish Lena Buhne the best of success and we are looking forward to continuing to work with her.
