As a highly experienced installer of the fast and very durable renovation treatment, Cemplas Limited carried out its contract for the Markerstudy Group at one of its UK offices in Kingston Crescent, Portsmouth, without the need to strip the old asphalt topping. This kept the duration of the work to just over two weeks, and enabled the facility to be brought back into use with minimum disruption. Markerstudy Group’s own maintenance department tendered and supervised the project.
Director of Cemplas, Liam Blencowe, commented, “In the case of Kingston Crescent we were invited to tender and put forward the MMA system as an ideal solution because of the time constraints. It was an existing asphalt deck that was leaking quite badly and the client wanted the work carried out as quickly as possible due to the inconvenience of having the area out of use.
“Starting in May, with a five man team on site, we began with a blast-track preparation of the old asphalt surface before overlaying it with the MMA; around 2,300 square metres in the standard Grey 7037 colour, followed by white-lining all the bays. This was a relatively straightforward job for us which went well, and everyone is happy with the results.”
The build-up saw TREMCO CP360 flexible waterproofing membrane applied to the prepared substrate, followed by TREMCO CP215 flexible basecoat. Special fleece was used to reinforce the joint areas in the deck. This was then over-coated using TREMCO CP930 flexible waterproof coloured sealer. Cemplas completed the work by applying white lines to define parking and other areas.
Cemplas’ partnership with tremco illbruck, coupled with the reliable performance of the TREMCO MMA Rapid Cure Flexible System in a variety of situations, is a contributing factor in the growing demand for the specialist contractor’s services. This led to the company having opened up a new office and depot in Sutton Coldfield at the start of September to help serve the Midlands and the North of England.
