08/24/2016

tremco illbruck is investing in its Bodenwöhr and Traunreut locations. Investments of just under ten million euros are being made with the intention of strengthening both sites.

tremco illbruck's products have an outstanding reputation both in Germany and far beyond, as they are synonymous with innovative, high-performance technology, solution- and service-oriented product development and system solutions. For example, with the i3 window sealant system. The user benefits from a modular construction system with products which are specifically tailored to work together (adhesives, membranes, foams, tapes and silicones) for every conceivable construction situation. "The need for our plants to be continuously modernised and expanded to accommodate additional capacities is driven by the ever-increasing demand for our system solutions, offering our customers a one-stop shop for products as well as our ambitious goals" emphasizes Reiner Eisenhut, CEO & Managing Director of tremco illbruck Group GmbH.

Direction for the future

At the Bodenwöhr site in the south of Germany, pre-compressed and impregnated sealing tapes and window and façade membranes are manufactured for the construction industry along with sealants for industrial use. Here, tremco illbruck is investing in a sustainable future for the company by commissioning a new impregnation and drying line which uses state-of-the-art, energy-efficient engineering.

In addition, the company has invested in a new mixing plant for sealing tape impregnations. Significantly higher levels of automation and systemic simplifications have not only resulted in increased processing speeds but also in reduced energy- and raw material consumption, impregnations of an even higher quality and an improved working environment for the employees at the mixing plant. "Energy efficient, environmentally friendly plant technology is vital", summarises Walter Geyer, Managing Director of tremco illbruck Produktions GmbH. "The development of our technical capacities creates the ideal conditions for us to continue to keep pace with the increasing demand in the sealing tape market in the future, too, as well as meeting its requirements to the greatest degree possible using currently ongoing innovations.”

Production in Traunreut to double

At the same time, several million euros have also been invested in the Traunreut manufacturing facility in Upper Bavaria. As one of the leading hybrid adhesive and sealant manufacturers in Germany and Europe, tremco illbruck is set to double it’s capacities in this segment. The demand for products with no risk to health, are safe for the environment and for new, innovative applications on building sites is continually increasing. "Here, we are investing in the future", explains Bernd Schürmann, Operations Manager at Traunreut; "here alone, at the Center of Excellence for sealants and adhesives, 20 R&D experts work on more than a dozen projects per year in collaboration with our customers".

It has already been ten years since tremco illbruck was one of the first companies to invest in hybrid polymer technology. By 2012, operations had commenced at new facilities for filling and packaging tubular bags. Now, these facilities are due for further expansion. Operations are set to begin at the expanded facilities in the autumn of 2018. Overall, tremco illbruck's focus is on modernising and developing its technical capacities.

"Our investments in Bodenwöhr and Traunreut are highly targeted. By expanding our German production sites, we are creating the ideal conditions for the growth we are striving for in the next few years", explains Reiner Eisenhut.
